Setting:Jeff’s tale starts of on New Years’ Day in the psychiatric ward of a hospital that he spends all of the forty-five days covered in the novel at. Martha is a little twelve year old girl whom only speaks to Jeff and is probably one of the more sad cases in the ward. The boys develop a sort of relationship over time. Rankin isn’t introduced right away, but is immediately drawn to Jeff when admitted by his dad due to his lack of interest in playing football. Cat Poop as Jeff calls him, is Jeff’s extremely patient doctor who’s great at what he does. There’s Sadie, a girl who’s attempted suicide multiple times in the past who bonds with Jeff. He’s so in denial about his depression at first and just wants to go home. Main Characters: This novel follows the story of Jeff, a fifteen year old who attempted suicide while his parents were at a New Years party. As soon as I got home, I locked myself in my bedroom until I had finished the quite depressing novel. I saw the book in the library and the title jumped out at me. The book I read over the summer was Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford.
